The St. David's Blueprint

This is the blueprint for the new St. David's website. You can click links, read notes, and navigate around it - it represents the proposed new website as an interactive summary.

Much like the blueprint for a building needs to be made and agreed before the planning of its interior design, or before construction begins, it is similar for the website.

A blueprint has three core purposes:

• Establish the structure of the website; what pages there will be and how they link to each other.
• Establish the content that will be on each page; as an indication of the topics and sections required (this does not require finalised copy and imagery).
• Establish the functionality of each page; what it does mechanically (e.g., embed a specific form, have a gallery, show the latest XYZ news items, etc).

The blueprint itself does not indicate anything about the visual design of the site or pages, except if some note discusses that. i.e., the look and feel of a blueprint has nothing to do with the look and feel of the final design.

We expect there to be some discussion around the blueprint, and for there to be some changes as we work out the three bullet points above. However, once agreed, this becomes the point of reference for what will actually be designed and built.

NOTES

• This blueprint is based off the provided document Site Map v01.docx from Helen, and not from the existing website.
• A "News" section has been added, which was missing from that document.
• QUESTION: Are we no longer having the equivalent of the School Hub page?
• QUESTION: During our in-person kick-off meeting I asked if the headings under each "page" of the provided sitemap document were indicative of content sections on that page, or of sub-pages that need to exist under that page. The answer was sections on the page, but if that's the case a lot of content is either going to end up on a single page, or a lot of content from the existing site is going to be missing on the new site. Please let me know if any "Section: ..." heading needs to become a "short summary" for inclusion on the page, with a linked sub-page underneath it.
